We continue our retrospective of the 9th Stroud Running Day in words
and images

By 1975, the trusted though under-powered (for Stroud) Bristol MW
needed replacement. Though the MW type did soldier on for a few more
years, there was a modest influx of Bristol LH models. Here we have
original and successor side by side as they would have been from
1975 to 1979, though the MW is, of course, in Tilling rather than
the leaf green of the LH

Western National Ks long outlived the 1950 transfer of Western
National to Bristol Tramways at Stroud. A small batch of Western
National Ks were delivered to Stroud just before the depot passed to
the Bristol company, the last of which was withdrawn in 1966. Like
that above, the favourite haunt of the ex-WNOC Ks was always The
Track (421 Chalford-Stroud-Stonehouse)

Bristol FLF Lodekkas are very much a welcome sight at Stroud
Running Days. There returned after a year's gap a closed top example
of this much-loved type, with a Bristol engine to boot, here seen
with an open top FLF following. FLFs were, of course, common on
Stroud's backbone trunk routes during the 1960s and 1970s, the last
examples of which were withdrawn as late as 1981

Of little or any relevance to Stroud whatsoever but nevertheless
looking handsome is this Harrington Cavalier bodied AEC Reliance
formerly of Neath & Cardiff Luxury Coaches. This was a first at
Stroud

Another relative oddity was this former Fishwick's late Leyland
National 2, preserved relatively locally (when compared to Preston)
in the camouflaged livery of its original owner

Wearing his Stroud Valleys privatisation uniform from 1987 to 1993
is Mike Cooke, once a long standing Stroud driver who now works for
Cotswold Green. Note the Stroud Valleys blazer and Cotswold (the
coaching brand) tie
