Stagecoach
Investment put at "Over £1mil"
In May 2004,
Stagecoach West invested £1.2mil in new double decks
for Service 94
between Cheltenham and Gloucester.
In the days of
wholesale single deck bus operation, it is comforting to
note that even at frequencies of up to 10 minutes, the 94
between Cheltenham and Gloucester requires double decks.
10 such vehicles - all Transbus Dennis Tridents with
Alexander ALX400 bodies - are to be used. But that was not
all...
Gloucestershire
County Council has paid for an ACIS BusNet satellite real
time information system and currently Passenger
Information Points are operating at 23 stops on 10
(Gloucester suburbs - Cheltenham) and 94, with about
another 40 to follow in the coming weeks. To date, it is
understood that routes A, D, E, 12 and 41 will also
benefit next year. In addition to this, Gloucestershire
has also provided traffic signal priorities.
The official launch
took place a little after 1030 on 8 May 2004 at Cheltenham
Racecourse. It was immediately followed by a half-hour
cavalcade topped and tailed by two of the new vehicles but
otherwise comprising a flotilla of preserved vehicles
similar to those seeing service in the area. The oldest
was from 1948.
