Web host provider ceases trading sometime during the autumn of
2009. Stroudvalleys.co.uk nevertheless remains live till January
2010, after which site disappears |
|
|
At a little after midday, 16 May 2010 sees the site's
restoration but only after a lengthy wait while the domain name runs
out so that it can be re-purchased cheaply, to avoid costly Nominent
fees. Upon the creation of a dedicated RE Group website,
Stroudvalleys regrettably now longer holds information on and for
the Stroud RE Group |
Previous iterations
This project was inspired by the Stroud RE Group's first two Stroud
Running Days of 2000 and 2001. The initial site went live in 2001
shortly after the Running Day of that year, hosted cheaply and
cheerfully by the now defunct Yahoo! Geocities, under the title 'Stroud
Valleys - Bristols in Stroud'. As such, it was supported by Geocities
advertising.
We registered the Stroudvalleys.co.uk domain name in March 2003 and the
site went advert-free shortly thereafter.
The site lasted till May 2005 when, mainly through lack of updates, the
owner took it down.
From January 2008, the site's reincarnation began to take shape, with
substantial content added in March.
