For the past three years,
there's been a rare opportunity to explore this area by bus. One
such occasion was yesterday, 3rd September 2011. Here were five
buses operating near enough a half-hourly service between Warminster
and the lost village of Imber and thence, on some journeys, to the
usually equally inaccessible Brazen Bottom or New Zealand Farm Camp.
Aboard were a mixture of transport
enthusiasts, amateur historians and interested spectators who wished
to set foot, no doubt for the first time, upon land whose
inhabitants were driven out under evacuation orders in 1943.
